MIRC Instructions

1. Download mIRC from Here and install
2. In the mIRC options window fill in your details
3. From IRC Network select RIZON and click ‘Connect to IRC Server’
4. Once connected, either enter #anime@uts through the mIRC channel window or type the command ‘/join #anime@uts‘ in the bottom bar

• What is Nickserv?
  • Nickserv is the nickname registration bot used in IRC. Through this you can lock your nickname into an account so that only you can use it. To  register your nickname on IRC do the following:
    1. type into the irc chat bar: ‘/msg nickserv register <password> <e-mail>’
    2. after this everytime you log into IRC your email you can identify yourself to the nickserv bot by typing in: ‘/msg nickserv identify <password>’
• What does ‘@’ or ‘+’ in-front of someones name mean?
  • the symbol ‘@’ or ‘&’ in-front of someones nick on IRC identifies them as an operator on the channel. This entitles them to be able to moderate the channel.
  • the ‘+’ symbol infront of someones nick on the channel means that this person has gained a voice. This means that in the event that the channel is muted for a specific reason that they have access to talk.
• How do I sent a private message to someone on the channel?
  • To send a pm or ‘query’ to a single member on irc simply rightclick that persons name on the list of people in the channel and select query or start a query chat to that member by typing ‘/query <nick> <message to nick>’
• How do I perform an action with the funky purple text?
  • To start an action simply type ‘/me <action>’
