Music Monday – Knockin’ on the Golden Age

With all this new-fangled anime I think it’s about time to take Music Monday back to it’s roots… or at least to a period where music was a much more valuable asset to anime than it is today – where music would make a good series great and memorable. So I think it is more than appropriate to again give Yoko Kanno the spotlight (this being the umpteenth time) for her music that defined a period of anime that remains unparalleled and completely untouchable – all you composers – you Gotta Knock a Little Harder~

Picture It – Be scared, be very scared… of fanart. (Safe for Work)

In almost all the artist communities, the large majority of works each community holds will probably consist of fanart over original art. This is not only limited to animes or manga, but also fanart of movies, of books – basically anything.

Naturally, fanart often delves in character history, specific situations (either imagined or existing in the original story), relationships between certain characters (by which I undoubtedly also mean of a romantic nature), … ‘ecchi’ (perverted) images, and much, much more besides. Artists are unbelievably creative, and anything you can imagine, it will probably have been done, or someone is doing it.

Mmm, that’s good Music Monday!

And now for something completely different!

So I was sitting here this afternoon thinking about what I should write for Music Monday, given I’d elected to do so again. I wasn’t short of inspiration, Nisemonogatari had just started the previous day and I’d been obsessed enough with Bakemonogatari to consider using the theme for that. Amagami SS was a series I never admitted to watching in polite company, but I did, and I could talk about the music from there.
