Badge Design Competition

Feeling creative? Want to contribute and give something back to the club?

Anime@UTS is looking for designs for badges to be sold at SMASH! 2012! They can feature anything – from fanart to original art, quotes, pictures and memes. Whatever you think that others would find interesting!

Just remember: whatever you submit to us, no matter who has influenced it, has it to be your own creation, and not directly copied from official sources. (If you’re making fanart by redrawing something from official art, this is fine as long as it’s not traced. Try to give it your own flair!)

If your badge design is chosen, your badge will help the club financially (fund events, new merchandise ideas, etc) and there will be various prizes for best designs. Plus we’d be happy to promote you at our stall at SMASH!  if you also do art professionally. :)

Important announcement!

Hey everyone!

You’ve might have noticed that there has been a lot going on in Building 1 lately. Mainly there are a lot of stalls around the concourse. Because of this, we’re canceling this week’s Fun and Games event as we are unable to book a room for us to chill in.

Fun and Games will be returning next week! We’re deeply sorry that Fun and Games wont run tomorrow, but there is always the Main Screening on Friday!

We hope to see you there!

Final Orientation Event – (O)hhh K+E+I… We mean Karaoke!

It has been a good run, but now we are reaching the last of our orientation events. But that won’t stop us (or me for that matter) going out with a bang of passionate, soul melting karaoke!

A graphic representation of karaoke~

Prepare yourself, for what can be considered the most intense( and insane…) event we have at Anime@UTS – K+E+I (Karaoke + Eat-out + Ice-cream).

Thrash out a tune – whatever the language may be – Jap, Eng, or anything in between. Have a great time or look like an idiot doing it (you know what I’ll be doing – all of the above, yes please!~).

Then we rest… and devour food, as we hang out and eat our fill at one of the many, many place to dine in the city.

Finally, we cool off… with ice cream towers? No, you have not read wrong. There will be ice cream after dinner, and there will be too much.

So come along and complete your initiation into Anime@UTS~ (mad: bad Alex bad! *Hits Alex again*)

Screenings

I thought I’d make a short post about screenings. I’m known as mad, and I’ll be running the screenings this semester. Just in case you forgot when and where screenings are;

Chibi (Mini) Screening – Mondays, CB02.06.44, 1 – 2pm
Main Screening – Fridays, CB02.06.35, 3 – 6pm

(A reminder that there are NO screenings this week, they begin next week.)

From what I heard at the meet and greet the other day, there seems to me a wide variety of tastes amongst you all, which is to be expected from such a large group.
Naturally I have my own preferences, but unfortunately in my position this may mean I will be biased towards certain types of shows and genres when chosing things to show at screenings. This is where you come in.

If you have any requests or suggestions with regards to what I show at screenings, I would be interested in hearing them. See something you liked and want to see more of? Just want to rewatch FLCL? Have something you’ve seen and think others will enjoy? Concerned that I’ve been neglecting BL at screenings? Sick of my slow boring shows with too much dialogue? Feel free to tell me.

In this way I hope that I can make screenings more enjoyable, more varied with more of the type of things you want to see, in addition to promoting more interaction within the club. Also I’m running out of ideas and that way it’s less work for me.

I’ll be there on Fridays, so you can approach me then if you have any comments or suggestions. My number is 0413 48 98 68.

If that’s too socially awkward for you I’ve got a Twitter if you’re into that sorta thing.
